BlackHole Desktop Changelog

Release notes and updates for BlackHole Desktop.

v1.1.3

LatestOctober 9, 2026

The 24-hour Pro Day Pass reaches the app, and a licence that has run out now says so wherever you are — online or off — while keeping your key for when you come back.

Added

+"Just need it today?" — the trial-ended and access-ended screens offer the 24-hour Pro Day Pass next to the yearly plan
+The trial-ended screen states what Pro costs before you click through

Changed

~When a Day Pass or a subscription runs out, the app keeps your licence key and shows "Your Pro access has ended" with a check-again button, instead of sending you back to a blank activation screen
~Offline, a Day Pass or a lapsed subscription ends at its end time, the same as a trial always did; lifetime licences are unaffected
~Mac builds are signed and notarized by Apple
~Bundled yt-dlp updated to the latest release

v1.1.2

September 12, 2026

In-app updates work again. A typo in the app's update key meant no version before 1.1.2 could install an update. Download 1.1.2 once from this page — after that, updates install on their own.

Fixed

~Updates now install from inside the app. Versions up to 1.1.1 rejected every update with "The signature verification failed" — install 1.1.2 once from this page; your licence key and settings carry over

Changed

~Mac: since September 14 the app is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without the "damaged" warning or a Terminal command

v1.1.1

September 12, 2026

A small follow-up to 1.1.0. The app now tells our server which version it is when it checks your licence, so free trials only start on apps that end them on time.

Changed

~Licence checks now include the app version. Starting a free trial needs 1.1.1 or later; a trial that's already running is never affected

v1.1.0

September 12, 2026

Try BlackHole Desktop free for 48 hours. The app now takes trial keys, shows how long your trial has left, and keeps your key when you upgrade.

Added

+48-hour free trial: get a key at blhole.com/desktop/trial and paste it into the app — the clock starts when you first activate it
+Trial countdown badge with a one-click Upgrade
+A "Your free trial has ended" screen — upgrading keeps the same key; click "Check again" to carry on

Changed

~Your licence is re-checked while the app is running (every 30 minutes, when the window regains focus, and before each download), not only at launch
~Being offline no longer clears your saved licence key

Fixed

~The app restarts itself after installing an update — this took effect with 1.1.2, the first version that can install updates at all
~Settings shows the real app version instead of "v1.0.0"

v1.0.5

August 28, 2026

A build-infrastructure release. No changes to the app itself — 1.0.5 is functionally identical to 1.0.4.

Changed

~Rebuilt on a corrected release pipeline; no user-facing changes from 1.0.4

v1.0.4

August 28, 2026

A maintenance release that refreshes the bundled download engine. If YouTube downloads had started failing for you, this fixes them.

Fixed

~Refreshed the bundled yt-dlp engine from 2026.03.17 to 2026.08.19 — YouTube changes regularly break older versions, so downloads that had started failing should work again

v1.0.0

March 18, 2026

The first public release of BlackHole Desktop. Download videos from 10+ platforms directly to your computer with no daily limits.
